"Prayer outlives the lives of those who utter them" - E. M. Bounds.
A family friend shared this thought, and the corresponding paragraph from Bounds' book this weekend. Have you ever realized that our prayers never die? If you think of it, God uses the prayers uttered by our ancestors that have affected the generations to come, whether to bless or to curse. But think of this thought, now, in this moment. The words you utter in prayer to God may not reach God's full intended purpose for them until you pass from this earth. If I realized the power and effect of such prayers, the far-reaching effect in the scale of time (which, God is outside of) and the reach both in distance (across the globe) and depth (to the profound points of a person's heart), why would I not desire to pray? What a great God we have!
In His own way, God is bringing to light in my own life recently the fruit of some prayers I have prayed for a long time... to be honest, I had despaired that my prayers were in vain. He has heard me, even when the answer doesn't immediately appear. Don't despair, my friends! Pray! He will answer...
